How Ospree Duty Free Created Seamless, Design-Forward Checkout Experiences

Ospree Duty Free, formerly known as Mumbai Duty Free, is India’s leading airport retailer and a key partner of Adani Airports, the country’s largest airport group.

The Challenge

Ospree’s checkout counters at Mumbai Airport relied on fixed, metal-fabricated stands that often failed to provide proper stability. As a result, iPads frequently fell, leading to asset damage and interrupted service. The setup also lacked a safe, reliable way to charge tablets, provided no protection for customers during PIN entry, and couldn’t adapt to newer tablet models. With no built-in security or anti-theft features, devices were easily unplugged or removed—creating a clunky, friction-filled checkout experience that fell short of the seamless journey today’s travelers expect.  
 
To deliver a better service, Ospree needed a solution that prioritized speed and simplicity, matched its design-forward identity, upheld security standards, and met defined budget goals. All without compromising the luxury experience at the heart of its brand.


The Solution

To create a faster, more intuitive checkout journey, Ospree partnered with InVue’s local partner, IAM (Integrated Active Monitoring Pvt. Ltd.), to deploy the NE150—a smart, all-in-one, cost-effective POS system built for seamless operation in modern retail environments. Having previously collaborated on TechnOspree, Ospree’s digital store concept at Mumbai International Airport, IAM introduced the NE150 during a portfolio presentation as an ideal fit for Ospree’s tablet-heavy checkout setup. Two pilot units were installed at the Duty-Free Liquor store, marking the first step toward a more connected and efficient retail experience. 

Designed with both associates and travelers in mind, the NE150 combined integrated charging, a flip-to-customer display, and a compact, contemporary form—delivering continuous power, effortless interaction, and a cleaner, more modern checkout space. 

Beyond hardware, InVue and IAM worked closely with Ospree on pricing, deployment, and setup to ensure the rollout delivered on every front: speed and simplicity, design integrity, trusted security, and strong return on investment.

Following a successful pilot, Ospree expanded the deployment to 60+ locations within Mumbai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest, serving nearly 40 million travelers each year, setting a new standard for efficiency in travel retail. 
 
Building on the initial success, Ospree and InVue are working on a 15-month integration plan to implement InVue’s complete POS solution, including software, scanners, and payment docks, across 12 additional airports, all part of a unified effort to bring consistency and long-term efficiency to Ospree’s Duty Free stores.
